Remember how I said I had some upcoming changes in my life in one of my previous entries? Well, this is what it was about. Starting a new career. I moved from a service delivery type of work to a program / project management one. It’s still in the same field (Information Technology), but what I do now is different from what I’ve been doing in the past.

I’ve learned a lot of things in the short amount of time since I’ve started and I’m sure that I’ll be learning a whole lot more. It’s a bit taxing since I have so much to learn and there isn’t really a way to ease your way into learning it. But I find it easier to learn something when I’m actually doing it, so I guess I’m good. I just have to find my groove in managing my time with all the tasks I’m handling and once I do, I’m sure everything will be a bit easier. 🙂

Anyway, that’s all the time I have for today. Until next time dear readers! (^^)/~~

Due to some upcoming changes in my life, I thought that this is something important to know. Really quite relevant to said changes.

I hope this will be helpful to others too. 🙂

PS. Dearest readers, I will try to update this blog more often. Even just a blog entry a month. I hope I stick to it. ^_^0

2013 Goal: Finish the #50BookPledge

Goal 1: #50BookPledge

Goal 1: #50BookPledge

So I know this is really late (like a whole month late) but I decided to go ahead and post my goals for 2013. A goal (or more if they’re related and I can cram them into one post) per entry.

Goal #1: Finish the #50BookPledge.

I’m not going to go in depth on what the #50BookPledge is all about (you can read about it in my #50bookpledge 2012 Master List). Basically, the #50BookPledge is a pledge to read 50 books before the year ends. It’s not a strict program where you have to read exactly 50 books. If you’re a quick reader and you can read a book a day, by all means do so. If 12 is all you can manage in a year, then go for it. The whole point is to make reading part of your life.

Apart from reading 50 books before the year ends, I also plan on giving short pseudo-reviews for the books I’ve read. Instead of having one entry per book though, I’m going to have them per month. I tried giving each book an entry last year but I wasn’t able to blog about the books after my 24th one. I found myself too busy. So, to make blogging about my #50BookPledge more manageable, I’ve decided to just have them grouped per month. Also, my pseudo-reviews will be shorter (kind of like quickie reviews) so that I don’t feel too pressured by my writing.

I’ll try to blog about the January books sometime in the coming week. I hope you’ll stick around for that. 🙂

Anyway, time for me to go. Until next time dear readers.

Happy New Year dearest readers! ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆

It was a fun 2012 for sure, despite the problems that I encountered along the way. I think that the year 2012 was a good start on my road to self-discovery (not that I was even aware I started embarking on such a journey. :P) and I’ve been learning more about myself and my strengths and weaknesses. In my heart, I just know that 2013 will be more awesome that 2012 was. 🙂

I was deciding whether to include this year’s New Year’s resolutions in this entry but I think that I should reflect on what I really want to accomplish for this year. This year, I don’t want to make resolutions just willy-nilly. I want to be able to measure the success of this year’s resolutions so that I can gauge accurately whether or not I’m making progress. And it would be easy to determine what steps to take to be able to achieve that goal in case I’m behind.

For example, one of my goals for this year is to lose weight (as if it isn’t every year). But now I know that if I don’t include how many pounds I want (need?) to lose and by when I want to lose them, I’ll probably end up not fulfilling that resolution (again). I want my New Year’s resolutions to be like goals we set at work. I know that if I do that, the probability of me actually completing my goals are higher.

I want to start 2013 right. And what better way to start it than by making sure this year’s resolutions are well thought of, right? Hopefully, with this kind of preparation and mindset, I’ll be able to fulfill most, if not all, of the goals I’ll be setting this year. 🙂 Yes to positivity and no to passivity. 😀

I’ve quite a bit of reflecting to do so I’ll take my leave now. Until next time dear readers. (^^)/~~

HAPPY NEW YEAR! o((*^▽^*))o

2012 Gratitude/Accomplishment List: Performing at The Hard Rock Cafe

TBA at The Hard Rock Cafe

TBA at The Hard Rock Cafe
(TBA from L-R: Mike, Tateen, Lehmann, and me; not in picture: Audi)

It may not have been a real gig but a performance is a performance, and being able to say that I’ve performed on stage at the Hard Rock Cafe in Glorietta is one of the things I can be proud of this 2012. I mean, I’m not even really a musician. So the chances of performing at that kind of place is was pretty improbable, right?

Our team / department / whatever-you-call-it held this year’s Christmas party at the Hard Rock Cafe in Glorietta and they included a “Battle of the Bands” in the program. We decided to join but it wasn’t easy to prepare for the performance itself. We weren’t able to practice that much (we had 2 real practices?) since we had to squeeze practicing with our work schedules. It was also difficult to pick songs since the theme of the party was “Glam Rock” and wanted to stay as close to the theme as possible. And considering that neither Tateen nor I were “rockers”, our song choices were quite limited. Still, I think we did pretty well. And it was nice to not be in the last place. 😛

(That’s probably thanks to Lehmann who’s a wicked awesome guitar player. :D\m/)

I still don’t think I’m cut out for a career in music but it was a cool experience to be able to perform at Hard Rock. 🙂

Anyway, just an hour left until year 2013. Enjoy the last minutes left to the year 2012. 😀

Until next time dear readers! (^^)/~~

PS. I’ll probably include links to our performance video/s once I’ve uploaded them on YouTube. 🙂

2012 Gratitude/Accomplishment List: Working with Marj Sia

With Marj Sia, Rubie Chua, and Xy Pintoy

(Pardon my sleepy looking smile in the bottom photo. :P)

This 2012, I had the pleasure of working with Marj Sia in organizing an event.

I’ve always wanted to attend a blogger event. I mean, being able to mingle with the bloggers I admire would be really awesome. But taking part in organizing a blogger event was more than I expected. Of course, as an organizer, you’re not really participating in the blogger event itself, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to mingle with the guests. In fact, you need to be able to mingle with the guests to make them feel welcome. You don’t want the guests to be bored or to be all alone. And that’s normal in any kind of event right? Even if it’s just a sleepover at your house.

It was a good experience to see how much preparation is done for a blogger event. The one I helped with was a pretty small event (less than 20 attendees?) but it still took a lot of preparation. You had to take care of the invite, the venue, the program, the food, the giveaways (loot bags!), the host, and the participants. I’m sure that if you had to do all that by yourself, that would take a lot of work and a majority of your time. I can’t even imagine how difficult it is to organize a bigger event, like company product launches or meet-and-greets.

One of the best things about this experience? Meeting two new friends (who are also fellow bloggers): Rubie and Xy. 🙂

I’m really happy that I got to do this because I’ve always enjoyed planning events (even if it’s just my birthday celebration). Sometimes, I even wonder if I’d be happy working as an event organizer. 😛

Anyway, it’s time for me to sleep. Until tomorrow (or later because as I’m writing this, it’s a minute to midnight. :P). (^^)/~~
